Clinical Expert

Medical content & analytics.

Description

As a member of the Medical Knowledge Team at MediusHealth, your medical expertise will contribute to the continuous development of Quro’s training and learning.

In this position, you will play a role in the improvement of Quro’s product from a medical accuracy and patient engagement perspective. Medically, you will help test the algorithm and how it handles nearly infinite set of use cases, troubleshoot questions, proofread content, and model new diagnoses.

Your work is imperative to maintaining an up-to-date, reliable database and, in turn, improving our accuracy as a whole. You will work both independently on specific projects, and in close contact with the rest of the team on projects related to our decision support system and forward-looking innovation.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a medical approbation/licence.

Responsibilities

  • Add and model diseases to our extensive database by reviewing pertinent literature and statistical data in addition to leveraging your own clinical experience
  • Support algorithm advancement and shift to new, data-driven models
  • Devise new and improved ways of interacting with our users to empower them to take control of their own health care journey
  • Write content for the layperson around descriptions of disease and treatment options
  • Run test cases to measure internal accuracy as well as head-to-heads with competitors
  • Be a resource to other Medius Health employees on topics related to medicine
  • Synthesize and convey our team’s goals to both internal and external stakeholders

Essential

  • Medical approbation in Australia or a license to practice medicine in the country of study
  • Good level of computer literacy (Windows, OS X, MS-Office, etc.), very good technical understanding and quick comprehension of new software
  • Good mathematical understanding (especially statistics)
  • Very good communication and team working skills
  • Ability to think and work in a pro-active and independent manner
  • 10-20 hours per week
  • Familiarity with academic literature review and medical terminology
  • Familiarity with statistics and epidemiology preferred
  • The successful candidate will take pride in their work, exhibit attention to detail, and be highly responsible. Additionally, the individual will be passionate about innovation in healthcare and dedicated to our mission

Desirable

  • Clinical experience (1-3 years), recent graduates are also welcome to apply
  • Prior experience in academic writing/editing and scientific communication

Frontend web developer with React/Vue experience.

The role

Use your extensive knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to help develop our AI powered virtual health companion.

You will work with real-time APIs to build high performance, well engineered solutions that delight our users by collaborating closely with Product, Design and Platform Engineering to spec, build, test and deploy new features.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience
  • 2+ years of experience writing client-side JavaScript

Data Scientist

Machine learning and natural language expert.

The role

As a Data Scientist at Medius Health you'll use your next level skills in machine learning and natural language to help us create a new generation of personalised healthcare.

We recently released our first product, a conversational personal health assistant called Quro, and we're working hard to make it smarter and more powerful. This is where we need your help.

What you'll do

  • Research and develop state-of-the-art natural language processing and machine learning algorithms for the development of Quro conversational engine, and disease prediction models.
  • Create statistical language models using large corpora of text data.
  • Develop tools, processes and metrics to help build high quality clinical linguistic resources.
  • Develop methods for linguistic annotation, ontologies, taxonomies, semantic schemas.
  • Prototype new models, evaluate with small scale experiments, and produce solutions at scale to millions of users.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, designers, and others to build new product features.
  • Iterate on conversation quality through continuous A/B testing.

What you'll bring

  • Expertise (or equivalent industry experience) in machine learning, natural language processing, or a strongly related field.
  • Experience implementing ML & NLP systems at scale in Python or either of Java, Scala, or C/C++
  • The knowledge of how to work with large-scale datasets and optimise algorithms for performance and quality
  • A strong grounding in core CS concepts such as common data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience of the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Excellent communication skills that make you equally comfortable writing complex technical papers and explaining your work clearly and understandably to people outside of your field.

We'd love it if you also have

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science/ Machine Learning/ Data Mining or equivalent.
  • Expertise and interest in building healthcare ontologies, clinical taxonomies, and semantic meaning representation frameworks.
  • Experience with FSMs.
  • Previous experience in IR, NLU, SMT, or dialog systems.
  • Published papers at relevant conferences like ACL, EMNLP, NAACL etc.
